Langkawi Island, Malaysia, December 8-10, 2013
We sailed to Langkawi Island. The 99 islands were lush and green, surrounded by the crystal clear, turquoise blue, ocean water.
The prominent brown Sea Eagle statue welcomes you to shore.
We sailed into the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club.
The super, big yacht in the background apparently belongs to Rupert Murdoch. You have to be standing beside it to actually comprehend the size of this vessel. We were trying to sneak a peak inside, but weren't able to make it happen.
The six of us, Matt and Rhiannon, Jim and I, Alison and Omar, went off to explore the island.
Gassing up!
Our first food stop.
One of Alison's favourite styles…point and pick is what she named it.
Monkeys and
tunnels and
breathtaking views made up our adventure.
Natural water slides.
WHAHOO!
No shortage of smiles here.
Our road ended at this gated property.
Twists and turns.
Along the coast.
From the viewpoint Gunung Raya, at the tallest point on the island.
Tropicbird had been part of Sail Malaysia. As part of the farewell tour we visited the salt water hot springs. I am sure that the air outside was as hot as the spring water on our feet.
The farewell dinner was quite a feast next to the rice fields.
