Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia
Unesco Cultural World Heritage Site
December, 2013
What could be more fun than a walking tour of a city that describes its history as well as involving you in its art? We had so much fun on our first day in Penang. I didn't include all the photos we shot, but I have attached a bunch just because they were so much fun.
Check out the name carved (not by me) into the swing seat on the left.
Jim just helping the little guy's dream come true.
This bride and groom were having a riot. They had Jim and Omar jump into their photos. However, the best was when the photographer jumped into the art and the groom took his photo.

Jim trying to steel a ride!
The streets of Georgetown were named after the trades, people and events, which means every street has its own unique story. As rent increased, many of the people moved out, and the stories went with them. 52 steel rod caricatures were commissioned to put the stories back into the city.
Below… Toktokmee is so-called because hawkers would strike a "tok tok" sound to signal their presence.
Where's my husband? The local Chinese say the rich men who lived on Muntri Street kept their mistresses here, hence the name Sai Cheng Hang or "Love Lane".
We visited the camera museum.
Where, due to Jim and Omar's enthusiasm,
we had the longest tour on record!
Penang is a mecca of food, so Ali and I took a cooking class.
Where laughter was a key ingredient.
Smell that yummy goodness!
Boy Talk.
Everything we ate wasn't noodles and curry…although we eat a lot of noodles and curry…we found this little bakery with a very enthusiastic baker. She claimed once we ate her desserts once, she would see us again.
Street food and flowers for offerings.
Street shots.
